Myanmar Consulate-General in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China hosted a reception to commemorate the 78th Anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on 28th February 2026 from 1830 hrs to 2030 hrs at Grand Metro Park Hotel in Nanning.
Her Excellency Ms. Lu Xinning, Vice Governor of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. Moreover, senior officials and responsible officials from Foreign Affairs Office of Guangxi, Nanning Foreign Affairs Office of Nanning and other cities in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province, and various government offices, Consuls-General and diplomats from foreign Consulates-General based in Nanning and Guangzhou, Secretariat of China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guangdong Province, Chinese businessmen, some Chinese institutions and media, Chinese born in Myanmar, Myanmar students and other invited guests, around (200) guests attended the reception.
At the reception, Daw Khaing Su Linn, Consul-General of Myanmar and H.E. Ms. Lu Xinning, Vice-Governor of Guangxi delivered addresses respectively. The Consul-General emphasized brief introduction of history of endeavors of gaining independence, the situation regarding the successful holding of 2025 general election in Myanmar, policies implemented by the government, Foreign Policy implementation, Myanmar-China relations and cooperation, Myanmar-Guangxi relations, cooperation in the trade and artificial intelligence sectors, as well as the potential for increasing collaboration in the future.
In the remarks of Vice-Governor, she highlighted Guangxi-Myanmar relations and multi-sectoral cooperation, policies and projects implemented by Guangxi government, and echoed to expand relations and cooperation between Guangxi and Myanmar. Afterwards, attendees were invited to take documentary photos.
Following the ceremony, the guests have been enjoyed with videos showcasing Myanmar endeavors of gaining independence, tourism promotion and Myanmar traditional songs and dances by Myanmar students in Nanning and family members of Myanmar Consulate-General. Guests were also treated with the renowned Myanmar traditional Mohingha and Myanmar beer along with other delicacies and a variety of refreshing beverages.
