The Consulate-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Kunming took the initiative in organizing a two-month online native language exchange program. The program was jointly conducted by students from the Department of Chinese at Yangon University of Foreign Languages, Myanmar, and the Department of Myanmar at the College of Foreign Languages, Dehong Normal University, Yunnan Province, China. To mark the successful conclusion of the program, an online closing ceremony was held on 11 June 2025.

The ceremony was attended virtually by U Thwin Htet Lin, Consul-General of Myanmar in Kunming; Dr. Myint San Yee, Rector of Yangon University of Foreign Languages; Mr. Yan Minghun, Rector of Dehong Normal University; along with pro-rectors, department heads, professors, teachers, and students from both institutions.

The two-month online language exchange program enabled students studying Myanmar and Chinese languages in the two countries to engage in weekly sessions. Topics covered included traditional festivals, cultural landmarks, and the future aspirations of youth. Through warm and friendly conversations using each other’s native languages, students exchanged both language skills and cultural insights.
