Myanmar Delegation attends the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting and Related Meetings (12 June 2025)

(12 June 2025, Penang) 

 Myanmar Delegation led by Director-General of the ASEAN Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar attended the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting, ASEAN Plus Three Senior Officials’ Meeting, East Asia Summit (EAS) Senior Officials’ Meeting and ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Senior Officials’ Meeting in Penang, Malaysia from 9th June to 11th June 2025. 

 Senior officials from ASEAN Member States, EAS and ARF participating countries, officials from the ASEAN Secretariat and Timor-Leste as an observer were present at the said meetings.

 At the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting, Senior Officials deliberated on key Chairmanship priorities in preparation for the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Post-Ministerial Conferences in July 2025, including advancing ASEAN Community-building efforts and enhancing ASEAN’s external relations. 

 The APT Senior Officials reviewed the progress of implementation of the APT Cooperation Work Plan (2023-2027) and discussed the future direction of cooperation as well as also discussed the preparations for the 26th APT Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in July and the 28th APT Summit in October. 

 The EAS senior officials reviewed the progress of implementation of the EAS Plan of Action (2024-2028) and exchanged views on regional and international developments. The Meeting also discussed preparations for the 15th EAS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in July and the 20th East Asia Summit in October 2025. 

 Finally, the ARF Senior Officials reviewed the outcomes of ARF meetings and activities during the Inter-Sessional Year 2024–2025, and to deliberated on proposed initiatives and co-chairmanships for the next Inter-Sessional Year. The Meetings also exchanged views on regional and international developments.
