His Excellency U Kyaw Tin Shein, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Arab Republic of Egypt, attended the 283rd Meeting of the ASEAN–Cairo Committee at the Heads of Mission level, which was held at 11:00 a.m. on 3 February 2026 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Cairo.
The meeting was chaired by the Ambassador of Thailand, in his capacity as the rotating Chair of the ASEAN–Cairo Committee and attended by Ambassadors from nine ASEAN countries in Cairo, Deputy Heads of Mission, and members of the Committee’s Working Group.
During the meeting, participants discussed the ASEAN–Cairo Committee’s work plan for 2026, and shared updates on bilateral relations with the Arab Republic of Egypt. With regard to the 2026 Work Plan, the Myanmar Ambassador proposed holding joint meetings with Egyptian Cabinet Ministers to further enhance engagement between the ASEAN–Cairo Committee and relevant Egyptian Government Agencies. In this regard, he suggested exploring potential areas of cooperation with Egypt in the agricultural sector, which is a key sector for ASEAN countries, including the possibility of holding discussions with the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture. Following the meeting, the Ambassador of Thailand hosted a luncheon in honour of the participants.
