Myanmar Consulate-General in Kunming hosts Myanmar Language Speaking Competition to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Myanmar-China Diplomatic Relations (14-6-2025)

To commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Myanmar-China diplomatic relations, the Myanmar Consulate-General in Kunming organized a Myanmar Language Speaking Competition at Yunnan Minzu University in Kunming, Yunnan Province, on 13 June 2025. The competition was held in two categories—basic and advanced levels—and featured participation from Chinese students currently studying the Myanmar language at the Yunnan Minzu University. The event centered on the theme “Friendly Relations between Myanmar and China.”
An award ceremony was held in the afternoon, attended by the Consul General of Myanmar, U Thwin Htet Lin; Vice President of Yunnan Minzu University, Mr. Shao Weiqing; department heads and faculty members; Consuls General and diplomats from other Consulates-General in Kunming; and invited guests.
At the award ceremony, the Myanmar Consul-General delivered the opening remarks, followed by a speech of appreciation from the Vice President of Yunnan Minzu University. Afterwards, medals and commemorative gifts were presented to the winners of the Myanmar Language Speaking Competition by Consul-General U Thwin Htut Lin, Vice President Mr. Shao Weiqing of Yunnan Minzu University, as well as Consuls-General and diplomats from Consulates-General in Kunming. The ceremony continued with a cultural showcase: Chinese students studying the Myanmar language performed traditional Myanmar dances, while eight officials from Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, currently studying Chinese, recited a poem in honor of Myanmar-China diplomatic relations and performed Chinese songs.
