Ms. Phoo Pwint Ko Ko, Consul General of Myanmar paid a courtesy call to His Excellency Mr. John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at 1000 hrs on 22 January 2026 in his office.
At the meeting, the Chief Executive emphasized the close relations with ASEAN countries and expressed his intention to enhance friendly relations between Myanmar and Hong Kong SAR. The Consul General conveyed her condolences for the tragic Taipo fire incident in last December in Hong Kong and she also expressed her sincere gratitude to the Government of the Hong Kong SAR for sending search and rescue team to Myanmar on the next day after the devastating Mandalay earthquake in March 2025 and for providing relief supplies. Then, both sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, investment, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between Myanmar and Hong Kong SAR.
In the afternoon, the Consul General attended the luncheon for Consuls General and representatives of ASEAN Countries hosted by the Chief Executive at the Murray Hotel in Hong Kong.
