Myanmar Consul General Attends Inaugural Ceremony of CII EXIM Conference 2026

Consul-General of the Consulate-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Kolkata, U Aung Aung Myo Thein accompanied by Economic Attaché, attended the inaugural ceremony of the CII EXIM Conference 2026 as an honored guest on February 26, 2026, at 10:30 AM. The event organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Eastern Region, was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kolkata, West Bengal, Republic of India.

The conference was attended by Shri Shantanu Thakur, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, as the Chief Guest. Other prominent attendees included Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Chairman of the CII Eastern Region International Trade Sub-committee and Vice President of Tata Steel Ltd; Mr. Shashwat Goenka, Chairman of CII Eastern Region and Vice Chairman of RPSG Group; Mr. Sumit Goyal, Vice Chairman of the CII Eastern Region International Trade Sub-committee and Chairman of Patton International Ltd; Deputy Consul-General from Chinese Consulate General; and Finnish trade representative. Business associations, industry leaders, invited guests, and media representatives were also in attendance.

The conference was organized to discuss global trade prospects and strategies to envision India reaching an export volume of US$ 2 trillion by 2030. Myanmar Consul-General delivered an address relating to Myanmar-India trade promotion as one of the country partners at the event. The sessions featured in-depth discussions, including a Panel Discussion on Value-Added Engineering & Metal Exports, a Panel Discussion on Exports of Auto Components, an India-Finland Dialogue, and a specific session titled “Decoding FTAs” (Free Trade Agreements).
