H.E. U Tin Maung Swe, Myanmar Ambassador to China, met with senior officials of Haikou Municipal Government in Haikou today at 9 am to strengthen economic ties and promote the newly opened Myanmar Trade Center in the Haikou Integrated Free Trade Zone. The ambassador held talks with Mr. Ding Hui, Deputy Secretary of Standing Committee of the CPC Haikou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Haikou Municipal Government, Mr. Feng Yong, Vice Mayor of Haikou Municipal Government, Mr. Yang Yi, Director-General of the Haikou Comprehensive Bonded Zone Administration, and representatives from Hainan Foreign Affairs Office. Myanmar Ambassador emphasized Hainan’s historical ties with Myanmar, recalling its role during Myanmar’s independence movement. He welcomed the establishment of the Myanmar Trade Center, which will facilitate business investment projects related to agriculture, fisheries, jade and gemstones trade between the two sides. The ambassador also called for further support to Myanmar investors and businessmen promising Myanmar Embassy’s full cooperation to ensure smooth trade relations. Later in the day, the ambassador attended the launching ceremony of the Myanmar Trade Center in Haikou Integrated Free Trade Zone. In his speech, he wished for the long term success of the Center for mutual investments and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides. Both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in various investments and business sectors.
