During the preliminary study visit to Managua of H.E. U Aung Kyaw Zan, the Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Brazil, regarding the opening of a new Myanmar Embassy in Managua from 21 to 27 May, 2026. The Myanmar Ambassador was cordially received by H.E. Mr. Valdrack Jaentschke Whitaker, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua at 1500 hrs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 22 May 2026.
During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua and the Myanmar Ambassador discussed the necessary steps to be taken for the opening of a new Myanmar Embassy in Managua, the recent developments in Myanmar, and the issues of closer cooperation and friendship between the two countries in international affairs. Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Valdrack Jaentschke Whitaker added that he was honored to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new President of Myanmar held in Nay Pyi Taw on April 10 2026 and that he was very pleased to have the opportunity to meet with the President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and that he was very grateful for the hospitality of the Government of Myanmar.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Mr. Valdrack Jaentschke Whitaker, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, together with H.E. Mr. Laureano Ortega Murillo, Presidential Advisor for the Promotion of Investment, Trade and International Cooperation, and H.E. Mrs. Olimpia Ochoa, Deputy Minister of External Cooperation.
