U Ming Kyaw Linn, Consul-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Chiang Mai, attended the LANNA EXPO 2025 on 23 July 2025 at 4:00 p.m. The event was organized by the Chiang Mai Provincial Office in collaboration with the Upper Northern Region 1 Group of Provinces, comprising Chiang Mai, Lampang, Lamphun, and Mae Hong Son. The event was also attended by Consuls-General, Consuls, and Honorary Consuls-General from various consulates based in Chiang Mai; the Governor of Chiang Mai Province, Mr. Nirat Phongsitthithaworn; officials from various government agencies; and the esteemed Minister of Commerce of Thailand, Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat.
LANNA EXPO 2025 is being held from July 22 to 28, 2025, at the Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Center. Myanmar Consulate General opened Myanmar exhibition booths showcasing a diverse array of traditional cultural artifacts, local products, and Myanmar traditional food. As a special feature, the Consulate-General organized a free Thanaka demonstration and application activity for visitors, in support of the campaign to have Myanmar traditional Thanaka to be included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In addition, the Consulate-General organized a cultural performance by young ladies from the Myanmar community in Chiang Mai, featuring traditional Pathein umbrellas (Pathein Hti).
The EXPO features over 900 booths showcasing a wide range of local products — including food and consumer goods, traditional and modern Thai clothing for export, handicrafts, and jewelry.
Following the opening ceremony, the Consul-General invited the Minister of Commerce to visit the Myanmar booth, where he explained the exhibited items and presented a gift to the Minister.
