U Kyaw Zay Yar Lin, Consul-General of the Consulate-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Chongqing, participated in the Consular and Trade Missions Meishan Tour, a study visit to Meishan City, Sichuan Province, at the invitation of the Department of Commerce of Sichuan Province.
The study tour was organized by the Department of Commerce of Sichuan Province in collaboration with the Meishan Municipal People’s Government and the Meishan Municipal Bureau of Commerce. Representatives from foreign consulates-general and economic and trade representative offices based in Chongqing and Sichuan Province were invited to participate. During the visit, the delegation toured key economic and industrial sites as well as model bases related to agricultural industries in Meishan, including Yongfeng Village, Meishan; Tongwei Solar (Meishan) Co., Ltd.; the Meishan New Energy & New Materials Integration Innovation Center; and the Meishan San Su Shrine Museum.
During the study tour, Mr. Zhang Daoping, Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Meishan Municipal Committee, received the foreign consuls-general and representatives of economic and trade representative offices. They exchanged views on information relating to Meishan City, Sichuan Province, as well as on strengthening friendship and promoting cooperation between Meishan and the respective countries and institutions represented.
In addition, a Trade and Economic Cooperation Discussion was held during the study tour. Ms. Dai Linli, Vice Mayor of the Meishan Municipal People’s Government, delivered the opening remarks. This was followed by remarks from Mr. Wu Ge, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Commerce of Sichuan Province; Mr. Suresh Raut, Consul-General of Nepal in Chengdu; Mr. Cristian Davis, Consul-General of Chile; and U Kyaw Zay Yar Lin, Consul-General of Myanmar in Chongqing. Representatives from the relevant departments and organizations subsequently exchanged views on matters concerning trade and economic cooperation.
During the meeting and discussion, U Kyaw Zay Yar Lin stated that the Consulate-General of Myanmar in Chongqing would continue to serve as a bridge for promoting friendship and cooperation between Myanmar and Meishan City, Sichuan Province. He further noted that the Consulate-General stands ready to facilitate exchanges among government agencies, business communities, universities and cultural institutions, and to provide support for practical cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. The Consul-General also warmly invited the leaders and representatives of the business community of Meishan to visit Myanmar and encouraged them to explore investment opportunities in Myanmar’s various economic and industrial sectors.
