Charge’ d’Affaires/Ambassador attends the Meeting between UNESCO Director-General and the UNESCO’s Asia and the Pacific Countries Group

On 28 November 2025, a meeting between UNESCO’s new Director-General Dr. Khaled El-Enany and the UNESCO’s Asia and the Pacific Countries Group was held at the UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, and was attended by U Kyaw Nyun Oo, Charge’ d’Affaires/ Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, together with Permanent Delegates/Ambassadors, Deputy Permanent Delegates, Charge’ d’Affaires from the Permanent Delegations of Asia and the Pacific Countries accredited to UNESCO in Paris.

During the meeting, he stated that UNESCO should not be seen solely as an institution for safeguarding cultural heritage, but rather as an organization that delivers meaningful impact for all humanity. The informal meeting with UNESCO regional groups was aimed for open and constructive exchange of views with all Member States, in line with his overarching commitment—set forth from the beginning of his mandate on 15 November 2025 — to build a UNESCO that serves the benefits for the people, at the service of all Member States.
