Chargé d’Affaires a.i./Ambassador of the Embassy of Myanmar in Canada Attends Working Dinner with Canadian Parliamentarians and Members of the Order of St. Joachim(28-5-2026, Ottawa)

Chargé d’Affaires a.i./Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Canada, U Zaw Tun Oo, attended a Parliament Hill tour and working dinner hosted by The Honourable Bryon Wilfert, P.C., ICD.D., a former Member of Parliament and a member of the Order of St. Joachim, an international organization comprising distinguished honorary members from around the world, on Thursday, 28 May 2026, in Ottawa. The programme included a guided tour of Parliament Hill at 18:00 hrs, followed by a working dinner held at 19:00 hrs in the Parliamentary Dining Room (Private Room).
The dinner was attended by members of the Order of St. Joachim, Canadian parliamentarians, and invited guests. During the dinner, participants exchanged views on recent developments in Myanmar, regional and international affairs, and cultural cooperation and exchanges.
At the event, Chargé d’Affaires a.i./Ambassador U Zaw Tun Oo briefed participants on Myanmar’s development priorities, the implementation tasks being undertaken by the new Government, and ongoing efforts relating to national stability, economic development, and international cooperation.
Chargé d’Affaires a.i./Ambassador U Zaw Tun Oo also introduced Myanmar’s rich cultural heritage, including traditional thanaka and the Thingyan Water Festival, along with Myanmar’s customs and traditions, the hospitality of the Myanmar people, and Myanmar’s ongoing efforts in soft diplomacy. He also emphasized that cultural exchange and the promotion of people-to-people relations are essential for strengthening mutual understanding and enhancing friendly relations among nations.
During the discussion, participants expressed strong interest in Myanmar’s cultural, political, and development-related matters and actively engaged in open and constructive exchanges of views.
The Order of St. Joachim was introduced as a historical organization founded around 1755 in the Holy Roman Empire and is known for emphasizing merit and virtue.
