The Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, in collaboration with the Office of Myanmar Defence Attaché (Army, Navy, and Air), hosted a reception to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of Myanmar Armed Forces Day on the evening of 27 March 2026 at the JW Marriot Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event featured commemorative remarks by Charge d’Affaires a.i./Myanmar Ambassador to Malaysia, and the Myanmar Military, Naval, and Air Attaché to Malaysia.
H.E. Lieutenant General Dato’ Seri Haji Muhammad Huzaimi bin Sabri, Chief of Staff, Malaysian Armed Forces and Spouse graced the occasion as the Special Chief Guest on behalf of Chief of Defence Forces and Malaysian Armed Forces. Around 250 distinguished guests attended the ceremony, including Ambassador John K. Samuel, Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and delegations of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassadors, Chargés d’Affaires, and representatives of the Asean Embassies and the Diplomatic Corps in Malaysia, senior officials from the Malaysia Ministry of Defence, retired military officers, Defence Attachés and Spouses, as well as members of the Myanmar community in Malaysia.
During the ceremony, the distinguished guests were hosted to a dinner reception featuring a selection of traditional Myanmar cuisines. Prior to the commencement of the ceremony and throughout the dinner, a series of video presentations showcasing Myanmar’s tourism attractions and activities of the Myanmar Armed Forces were screened. The evening was further enlivened by traditional cultural dance performances and musical entertainment by a Myanmar harpist, offering a glimpse into Myanmar’s rich cultural heritage.
