The ceremony of conferring the 2024 Honorary title of Excellent Performance in Social Field medal (First class) offered by the State Administration Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Mr. Imaizumi Seijii in Japan was held at the Mr. Imaizumi Seijii’s Residence in Saitama Prefecture, on 1st May 2025 (Thursday).
U Soe Han, Myanmar Ambassador to Japan and spouse, staffs from the Myanmar Embassy and family of members of Mr. Imaizumi Seijii attended the ceremony.
First of all, Ambassador U Soe Han made congratulatory remarks and the aim of the ceremony for conferring the 2024 honorary title to the recipient. Afterwards, Ambassador U Soe Han presented the Social Field medal (First Class) award to Mr. Imaizumi Seijii.
Then, Mr. Imaizumi Seijii made appreciation remarks on receiving the honorary title.
Mr. Imaizumi Seijii, who is going to celebrate his 102 years of age, is a Japanese veteran involved in 1944 Imphal operation. He was awarded the honorary title of Social Field medal (First Class) by the State Administration Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on 4 January 2024 as he contributes to the promotion of friendship between Myanmar and Japan by providing scholarships to young Myanmar students in Japan through the Imaizumi Myanmar Scholarship Program which was established in April 1989 until 2008, in remembrance of the kindness of Myanmar people during his tour of duty in Myanmar during the World War II. The Imaizumi scholarship was offered to a total of 178 Myanmar scholars, including 20 doctorates. He also provided relief and rehabilitation support to disaster-affected schools and monasteries in Myanmar.
