The Embassy of Myanmar in Vientiane hosted the ASEAN Consultative Meeting (ACM) in Vientiane on 28 September 2026, with the Ambassador of Myanmar to Lao PDR serving as the rotating Chair of the Meeting for the period from July to December 2026.
The Meeting was attended by H.E. Phongsavanh Sisoulath, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR and Lao PDR SOM Leader for ASEAN, Ambassadors and Chargés d’Affaires of ASEAN Member States based in Vientiane, as well as the invited guest, Mr. Boualom Saysanavong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Policy, Planning and Evaluation, Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Lao PDR, and Alternate ASEAN Senior Official for Energy for Lao PDR.
The Meeting discussed the outcomes of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and preparations for the 49th ASEAN Summit. It also featured a presentation and discussion on the current developments concerning the National Power Development Strategy of the Lao PDR and cross-border power trade within the region.
The Meeting further exchanged views on the importance of continued consultation, coordination and cooperation among ASEAN Member States, with emphasis on strengthening ASEAN solidarity and further advancing ASEAN Centrality.
Following the Meeting, a group photo was taken and a luncheon was hosted.
