Ambassador U Min Thein of Myanmar to Austria participated in a study tour organized by the ASEAN Committee in Vienna (AVC), together with Heads of Mission and officials from other ASEAN Embassies based in Vienna. Officials from Austria’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO) also joined the programme.
According to the programme, the AVC delegation visited the Expat Centre of the Vienna Business Agency (VBA), which provides free advisory services to foreign entrepreneurs and investors establishing businesses in Vienna; the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), where research is conducted in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum technologies; Seestadt Aspern in the Aspern district, where a smart city is being developed in phases; and Climate Lab, which showcases initiatives supporting climate change mitigation, including the creative reuse of waste materials.
The programme was jointly organized by the Philippine Embassy, the current Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Vienna, in cooperation with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO) and the Vienna Business Agency (VBA). The study tour provided greater insight into Austria’s economic development, technological innovation, smart city projects and climate action initiatives, and contributed to further strengthening cooperation between ASEAN and Austria.
