The delegation, led by H.E. U Soe Han, Myanmar Ambassador to Japan and Council Director of Myanmar to the ASEAN-Japan Centre, attended the first session of the 45th Annual Meeting of the Council Directors on 18 June 2025 via video conference. The meeting, chaired by Dr. May Fa’ezah Ahmad Ariffin, Council Director of Brunei, was attended by a total of 49 participants, including Council Directors from ASEAN member states, Mr. MIYAMOTO Shingo, Council Director of Japan and Director-General of the Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Dr. Kunihiko Hirabayashi, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-Japan Centre, as well as representatives from the ASEAN-Japan Centre, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan. The meeting focused on several key agenda items, including the annual work program and budget for the 2026 fiscal year, as well as an update on the progress of member countries' domestic processes regarding the adoption of the Second Amendment to the Agreement Establishing the ASEAN Promotion Centre on Trade, Investment, and Tourism. At the meeting, H.E. U Soe Han, Council Director of Myanmar to the ASEAN-Japan Centre, briefed the participants on the planned program activities for the 2026 fiscal year. He also provided an update on the ongoing internal processes for the adoption of the Second Amendment to the Agreement. The first session of the 45th Annual Meeting of the Council of the ASEAN-Japan Centre concluded successfully later that evening.
