U Zaw Tun Oo, Chargé d’affaires a.i./Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Canada, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Dinesh K Patnaik, High Commissioner of India to Canada, at the High Commission of India in Ottawa on Thursday, 4 December 2025 at 10:45 hours.
During the meeting, the two Ambassadors exchanged views on further strengthening the longstanding good neighbourly relations between Myanmar and India. They discussed enhancing people-to-people friendship through educational and cultural exchange programs, as well as exploring opportunities for bilateral cooperation in areas including trade and technology.
On the same day, at 11:30 hours, Chargé d’affaires a.i./Ambassador U Zaw Tun Oo paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Wang Di, Ambassador of China to Canada, at the Chinese Embassy in Ottawa. Ambassador Wang Di shared his experiences gained during his tenure and the two Ambassadors discussed further maintaining the friendly and neighbourly relations between Myanmar and China. They also exchanged views on increasing cooperation in infrastructure development, economy, and technology, as well as the ongoing collaboration between the two governments in combating cross-border issues such as illicit drug trafficking, human trafficking, and online fraud.
Chargé d’affaires a.i./Ambassador U Zaw Tun Oo also briefed on the current developments in Myanmar and the preparations underway for holding a general election.
