Bilateral Inter-ministerial Consultation on Information and Media Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar and Russia was held at the meeting hall of the Mekong-Lancang Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, May 28, 2026. The consultation was attended by officials from the Internal and External Relations and Information Division of the Union Minister's Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, the Department of Media Development, Ministry of Information of Myanmar, and the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
During the consultation, the two sides focused on several key issues, including: accurately reflecting and projecting the international images of both Myanmar and Russia; enhancing cooperation between the two foreign ministries and media sectors; strengthening bilateral collaboration in public diplomacy and media outreach; and combating fake news and disinformation driven by advanced technologies. The Russian delegation also held a meeting with the leadership of the Myanmar Press Council and representatives from the media sector on May 29, 2026.
