U Aung Kyaw Zan, Chargé d’Affaires/Ambassador of the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Myanmar in Vienna, attended the 15th Session of the Assembly of Parties of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA), held on 30 October 2026 at the Vienna International Centre in Vienna, Austria, and delivered a statement during the General Discussion.
In his statement, the Chargé d’Affaires highlighted that the continued expansion of the membership of IACA demonstrates the growing recognition of its important global efforts in combating corruption. He stated that Myanmar attaches great importance to IACA’s academic degree programmes and trainings. While emphasizing the importance of capacity-building and technical assistance in combating corruption, he encouraged IACA to further expand scholarships and free online training programmes for least developed countries, and to provide greater opportunities for youth and anti-corruption officials to participate in IACA’s programmes.
He further elaborated on Myanmar’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption, including the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (2026–2030), the expansion of Corruption Prevention Units (CPUs) across all regions, states and ministries, and the strengthening of initiatives to promote integrity and raise public awareness of anti-corruption measures. He also informed the Session that Myanmar will host the 22nd ASEAN Parties Against Corruption (ASEAN-PAC) Principals Meeting in November 2026 as well as the 23rd Secretariat Meeting in 2027. He reaffirmed Myanmar’s commitment to continuing cooperation with IACA and its Parties, as well as with international and regional partners, in preventing and combating corruption.
