Signing Ceremony for MoAs/ MoU at the 3rd BIMSTEC Summit
Held in Nay Pyi Taw on 4 March 2014
As the Chairman of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), Myanmar hosted the 3rd BIMSTEC Summit and meetings at the Myanmar International Convention Centre (MICC II) in Nay Pyi Taw from 2nd to 4th of this month. BIMSTEC comprises of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal and Thailand.
On 4th March 2014, a Signing Ceremony was held at MICC II, Foreign Ministers of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar and Nepal and Special Envoy of Thailand signed Memorandum of Association (MoA) on the establishment of the BIMSTEC Permanent Secretariat, the Memorandum of Association (MoA) concerning establishment of the BIMSTEC Centre for Weather and Climate and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of the BIMSTEC Cultural Industries Commission (BCIC) and BIMSTEC Cultural Industries Observatory (BCIO) in the presence of the Heads of State, Heads of Government and Special Envoy of BIMSTEC Member States.
Afterwards, H. E. U Wunna Maung Lwin, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, handed over the signed documents to Foreign Ministers and Special Envoy of other Member States.
