Myanmar rejected one-sided remarks and statements based on Inaccurate Information

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly objects to one-sided remarks on the numbers of detainees and deaths of protesters by the spokeperson of the Secretary-General who quoted the unverifiable facts received from the UN Country Team of Myanmar during the noon briefings to the Press on 29 June 2021.

The Director-General of the Strategic Studies and Training Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with the official concerned of the UN Country Team in Yangon on 2 July 2021 and made objection to the said matter. Moreover, the Director-General rejects the information uploaded on the website of the United Nations as it is linked to the website of the so-called National Unity Government (NUG) which was declared as terrorist group and asked the verification on the said linkage at the earliest possible.

The United Nations is requested not to release one-sided remarks without verification and to verify sensitive information with relevant focal ministries before its release in the press and briefings.
