In his capacity as the Rotating Chair of the ASEAN Pretoria Committee, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Pretoria, U Thein Min Tun, hosted a welcoming luncheon in honour of H.E. Mr. Ekapol Poolpipat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, and H.E. Dato Yubazlan bin Haji Yusof, High Commissioner of Malaysia, who have recently arrived to take up their duties in the Republic of South Africa. The luncheon was held at 12:30 p.m. on 26 November 2025 at Pachas Restaurant in Pretoria.
The luncheon was attended by Ambassadors of ASEAN Member States resident in Pretoria, as well as H.E. Ms. Zodwa Lallie, Acting Deputy Director-General of the Asia and Middle East Branch, and Ms. Thandiwe Fadane, Chief Director of the East Asia Directorate, of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa.
During the luncheon, the Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. extended a warm welcome to the Ambassador of Thailand and High Commissioner of Malaysia on their assumption of duties in South Africa, on behalf of the ASEAN Pretoria Committee. He also expressed his appreciation to H.E. Ms. Zodwa Lallie and Ms. Thandiwe Fadane for their presence at the luncheon, and conveyed the ASEAN Pretoria Committee’s pride and congratulations on the Government of South Africa’s effective leadership and successful conclusion of the G20 Presidency.
