Mr. Aung Kyaw Htun, Deputy-Minister of Ministry of Transport and Communications of Myanmar and Ms. Khaing Su Linn, Consul-General of the Consulate General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar attended China-ASEAN Countries Forum on Blue Economy Cooperation and Development (CAFBE) in Nanning on 9-9-25. Mr. Cun Shuxian, Vice Minister of Natural Resource (MNR) and Administrator of the State Oceanic Administration, Mr. Hu Fan, Vice-Governor of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Mr. CHOUP Paris, Secretary of State of Ministry of Environment of Cambodia, and representatives from universities, institutions related to marine technology from China and ASEAN countries, Consuls-General of Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam residing in Nanning, totaling over (500) participants attended the forum. During the forum, while addressing opening remarks by chief guests, Deputy Minister Mr. Aung Kyaw Tun mentioned that Myanmar’s strategic location at the crossroads of Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean makes Myanmar a natural gateway between ASEAN and the wider world. He expressed that as Myanmar is dedicated to enhancing maritime cooperation with China and ASEAN, Myanmar aligns with the ASEAN Blue Economy Framework adopted in 2023, and advancing infrastructure projects like the Kyaukphyu deep seaport for regional connectivity and economic growth. He elaborated that Myanmar is collaborating with regional partners on port decarbonization, marine environmental protection, and capacity building. He also suggested deeper cooperation in infrastructure and decarbonization, clean energy initiatives, regulation, environmental protection, and emergency response; and welcomed China’s expertise in smart port and logistics, and green shipping. Afterwards, in signing agreements session, Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Scientific Research and Technology Cooperation was signed between Fourth Institute of Oceanography, MNR and Myeik University of Myanmar.
