On 28April, 2025, Myanmar Ambassador to China U Tin Maung Swe delivered a lecture on Myanmar-China relations at Nanjing University in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China, to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Myanmar and China.
The event was hosted by the China-ASEAN Center (ACC) in Beijing, China, and coordinated by Nanjing University and the Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Office. The ambassador discussed about the history of Myanmar-China relations since the Bagan era, China-ASEAN relations and Myanmar’s role, current cooperation between Myanmar and China and the opportunities and challenges that may arise in the future etc., in detail.
The lecture was attended by H.E. Mr. Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Center (ACC), officials from Nanjing University, Professor Zong Huawei, Assistant Dean of the School of International Studies at Nanjing University, students studying in China and international students interested in Myanmar-China relations. The Ambassador also responded the the questions raised by the students accordingly.
Moreover, Ambassador and delegation paid a tour around the campus of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) and met with President Chen Haishan and discussed ways to increase scholarships for Myanmar students. He also met with (13) Myanmar students who are studying at that University in private and encouraged them to keep up with their lessons and to live cohesively with a sprit of family among every Myanmar students, and to remain as good civil servants who can contribute for the betterment of the country. He also guided the students to have regular contact with the Myanmar Embassy in Beijing.
