As the country-coordinator for ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Relations, H.E. Aung Myo Myint, Permanent Representative of Myanmar to ASEAN, co-chaired the 24th ASEAN-Russia Joint Cooperation Committee (24th ARJCC) Meeting, along with H.E. Evgeny Zagaynov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to ASEAN, held on 1 April 2026 at the ASEAN Secretariat.
The meeting exchanged views on key developments in the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership in light of the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations, and discussed ways to further deepen multifaceted cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including energy security, biosafety and biosecurity, smart cities, the digital economy and AI, science, technology and innovation, education, tourism, people-to-people and youth exchanges and business ties, as well as ways to further strengthen cooperation between ASEAN and the EAEU.
Furthermore, the Meeting appreciated activities of the ASEAN Center in MGIMO University. ASEAN also positively noted the MGIMO’s Master’s Programme for ASEAN students launched in 2023. The meeting was attended by the Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member States and the delegates, the representatives from the Russian Mission to ASEAN and the Russian Federation, as well as the representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat.
