On behalf of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Myanmar Ambassador confers religious title “MAHA SADDHAMMA JOTIKADAJA” to Most Venerable Phra Phrommunee (5-8-2025)

A ceremony to confer the religious title “Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja”, awarded by the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar for the year 2025, was held on 5 August 2025 (Tuesday) at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand. The title was conferred upon Most Venerable Phra Phrommunee, a member of the Supreme Sangha Council and Abbot of Wat Phra Sri Mahathat. The ceremony was attended by the senior representatives from the National Office of Buddhism, Thailand, along with the venerable monks. Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Thailand, H.E. U Zaw Zaw Soe, and spouse, Minister Daw Cho Cho Soe, Defense Attaché (Army, Navy, Air), Brig. General Win Thu Lin, and spouse, and officials from the Myanmar Embassy and Defense Attaché (Army, Navy, Air), in Thailand also attended the ceremony. During the ceremony, Ambassador H.E. U Zaw Zaw Soe delivered an address highlighting the significance of the religious title “Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja” and expressed heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to Most Venerable Phra Phrommunee for his meritorious efforts in preserving, promoting, and propagating the teachings of the Buddha. The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of fostering cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand in the areas of religion and culture. Following the address, the Ambassador formally presented the religious title and insignia to Most Venerable Phra Phrommunee (Boonrueng Poonyachoto). After expressing his heartfelt appreciation, Most Venerable Phra Phrommunee, together with other venerable monks, recited auspicious verses. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of offerings from the Embassy of Myanmar.
