Ambassador U Min Thein, Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, delivered a statement on 25 November 2025 at the General Debate of the 21st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), which is being held as the Global Industry Summit 2025 from 23 to 27 November 2025 at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Centre in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In his statement, Ambassador U Min Thein reaffirmed Myanmar’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) and highlighted that the Government, as national objectives, prioritizes promoting the socio-economic well-being of the people through the development of agro-based industries and the enhancement of the education and health sectors for the sustainable development of the State. He also encouraged domestic and foreign investment in key priority sectors, including agriculture, food processing, industrial zones, and digital enterprises, to support long-term economic and industrial growth. He further explained that Myanmar is undertaking initiatives to promote the use of renewable energy and electric vehicles, as well as climate-resilient practices—including mangrove conservation and afforestation.
Afterwards, the Permanent Representative of Myanmar called on UNIDO and development partners to support Myanmar in needed areas, particularly in enhancing the productivity and sustainability of agriculture-based MSMEs, improving energy management and innovation, and strengthening energy-efficiency monitoring and evaluation, stressing that no country should be left behind. He expressed full support for the Riyadh Declaration to be adopted at the conclusion of the Summit, while welcoming the 11th LDC Ministerial Declaration and the Implementation Plan for UNIDO’s Operational Strategy for LDCs (2022–2031).
