To commemorate the 58th ASEAN Day, the ASEAN Family Day celebration was jointly organized by ASEAN Embassies based in Vientiane, Lao PDR on Saturday, 23 August 2025 at Patuxay Park, Vientiane. The event was attended by H.E. U Aung Ko, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Lao PDR, and spouse, along with the Defence Attaché (Army, Navy, Air), officials from the Myanmar Embassy and the Office of the Defence Attaché, and their family members. Also in attendance were Ambassadors, Chargé d’affaires, officials and family members from ASEAN Embassies and the Embassy of Timor-Leste in Vientiane, as well as invited guests including the Deputy Permanent Secretary, the Deputy Director-General and officials from the ASEAN Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lao PDR. The celebration commenced at 06:30 hrs with a joint walk around the Patuxay Victory Monument. This was followed by playing of the ASEAN Anthem and opening remarks by H.E. Ms. Grata Endah Werdaningtyas, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia and current Coordinator of the ASEAN Consultative Meeting in Vientiane, Lao PDR, and Mr. Sengpraarthid Snookphone, Deputy Director-General of the ASEAN Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR. Afterward, the program continued with group photo sessions, a friendly Aerobic exercise, a joint friendship breakfast, cultural dance and song performances, a lucky draw and other entertainment activities. The event concluded at 10:30 hrs. At the joint celebration, the Myanmar Embassy also hosted a food booth and served the attendees with Myanmar traditional breakfast dishes.
