The Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Hanoi successfully hosted a reception to commemorate the 78th Anniversary of the Independence Day of Myanmar at the Melia Hotel in Hanoi, from 1830 hrs to 2030 hrs on 19 January 2026.
The event was graced by more than 170 distinguished guests including the presence H.E. Mr. Nguyen Tat Thanh, Director-General of the South East Asia, South Asia, South Pacific Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam as the Chief Guest, along with the officials from Vietnam government agencies including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassadors, Chargés d' Affaires and Diplomats from the ASEAN and other diplomatic missions in Hanoi, Defense Attachés, Chairman and Deputy Chairpersons of the Viet Nam-Myanmar Association for Friendship and Cooperation, Vietnamese Business Community, Myanmar Defense Attaché and officials from the Office of the Defense Attaché, Myanmar students and Myanmar Community in Vietnam.
The event was commenced by respecting and saluting the national flags of Myanmar and Vietnam, which was followed by the remarks from the Chargé d'Affaires / Ambassador of Myanmar to Viet Nam H.E. U Wai Linn and Director-General H.E. Mr. Nguyen Tat Thanh, both reflecting the historic events of the Myanmar’s path to its Independence as well as highlighting the enhancement of the bilateral ties between Myanmar and Viet Nam, and the Chargé d'Affaires / Ambassador of Myanmar also underlined the ongoing general election in Myanmar in his remarks.
At the reception, the guests enjoyed a buffet dinner featuring Myanmar traditional cuisines and delicacies while video clips showcasing tourism and tourist destinations of Myanmar were presented.
