The Myanmar Delegation led by H.E. Mr. Kyaw Nyun Oo, Chargé d’Affaires/ Ambassador of Myanmar Embassy in Paris attended Plenary Meeting of the 224th Session of the Executive Board – EB of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization¬ – UNESCO, which was held at the UNESCO Headquarters, Paris from 13 to 14 April 2026.
The Chargé d’Affaires / Ambassador delivered a statement at the Plenary Meeting of the Executive Board – EB, alongside both member and non-member states of the EB.
In his statement, the Chargé d’Affaires / Ambassador highlighted that since Myanmar’s accession to UNESCO in 1949, the country has been consistently working in close collaboration with UNESCO in the fields of education, science, and culture. He also emphasized that in the cultural sector, the government remains dedicated to the preservation of Myanmar’s diverse traditions and cultural legacies as well as in the education sector, efforts are being made to ensure universal access to basic education and to enhance education by establishing vocational high schools. Additionally, he further mentioned that the new administration has currently established the Ministry of Women’s Affairs to facilitate the socio-economic advancement and capacity building of women.
Then, in the evening of 14 April 2026, the Director General of the UNESCO responded to the deliberations made by the High-level Representatives from the EB and non-EB members countries.
