The 30th ASEAN–Republic of Korea (ASEAN–ROK) Dialogue was held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 6 to 7 July 2026. A Myanmar delegation led by U Myo Myint Maung, Chargé d’Affaires a.i./Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Seoul, attended the meeting.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Republic of Korea and the Kingdom of Thailand. Participants reviewed the progress made in implementing the ASEAN–ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) and discussed the priorities for implementing the ASEAN–ROK Plan of Action (2026–2030), covering cooperation in the political and security, economic, and socio-cultural pillars.
In accordance with the agenda, participants exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including the upgrading of the ASEAN–Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA), the promotion of trade and investment, the digital economy, supply chain resilience, regional health cooperation, energy security, food security, cybersecurity, as well as regional and international issues.
During the session on the Review and Future Direction of the ASEAN–ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, under the Socio-Cultural Cooperation pillar, the Head of the Myanmar Delegation delivered on Regional Health Cooperation. In his discussion, he highlighted Myanmar’s active engagement in regional health cooperation in its current capacity as the Vice Chair of the ASEAN Plus Three Senior Officials Meeting on Health Development (ASEAN+3 SOMHD). He also briefed the meeting on Myanmar’s preparations to host the 21st SOMHD and the 6th ASEAN–ROK SOMHD in 2027, and shared Myanmar’s views on future initiatives to further strengthen regional health cooperation.
During the exchange of views on regional and international issues, the Head of the Myanmar Delegation briefed on the latest developments in Myanmar, including the implementation of the Government’s 100-Day Programme, ongoing efforts towards peace and national reconciliation, humanitarian measures, and initiatives to encourage political dialogue through peaceful means among relevant stakeholders. He also emphasized the importance of approaching the developments in Myanmar in a constructive manner and called for continued cooperation based on the principles of mutual respect, respect for national sovereignty, and non-interference.
On 6 July 2026, the Myanmar delegation attended the ASEAN Coordination Meeting held at the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) in Seoul. The delegation also visited the ASEAN Panorama Exhibition at the ASEAN-Korea Centre and attended the dinner hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea in the evening.
The ASEAN–ROK Dialogue served as an important platform for further strengthening the ASEAN–ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and enhancing cooperation across various sectors in support of regional peace, stability, and sustainable development.
The Myanmar delegation comprised U Myo Myint Maung, Chargé d’Affaires a.i./Ambassador, Ms. Naw Ohnmar Khine (Counsellor), Ms. Win Pa Pa Thu (Economic Counsellor), and Ms. Thwe Thwe Aung (Counsellor), of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Seoul.
