Chargé d’Affaires/Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the United States, along with ASEAN Ambassadors, Heads of Mission and representatives from other ASEAN Embassies attended the meeting and working luncheon hosted by H.E. Mr. Adnan bin Haji Mohd Ja’afar, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the United States, to H.E. Mr. Michael G. DeSombre, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the United States, at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam on 29 January 2026.
During the meeting, members of the ASEAN Committee in Washington exchanged views with the Assistant Secretary of State on recent developments in the ASEAN–U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and ongoing areas of cooperation, as well as the priority agendas under the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship. The discussion also covered potential collaboration in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence and space technology.
The Myanmar Chargé d'Affaires/Ambassador briefed the meeting on the successful completion of 2025 multiparty democratic general election with three phases, reaffirmed the country's commitment to closer cooperation with ASEAN, and outlined the government's ongoing efforts to dismantle online scam networks across the country.
