Myanmar Chargé d’Affaires a.i./ Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Republic of Korea, Mr. Myo Myint Maung and the Myanmar delegation attended the 18th Annual Meeting of the Council of the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) held at the Westin Josun Seoul on February 11, 2026. Present at the said meeting were Secretary General of AKC H.E. Mr. Kim Jae-shin, ambassadors and high-ranking officials from ASEAN countries, as well as Mr. Ha Daegoog, Director of ASEAN and Southeast Asia Affairs Bureau, ASEAN Cooperation Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
At the meeting, the delegates exchanged views and discussed to strengthen the existing cooperation between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea through AKC. Furthermore, the implementations of the AKC’s programs for the year 2026, the programs relating to enhancement of trade and investment and the promotion programs related to the culture and tourism sector between ASEAN and ROK, were also discussed.
During the meeting, Myanmar Chargé d’Affaires a.i./ Ambassador observed that the proposed AKC work programs for 2026 include the programs to be undertaken in cooperation with Myanmar under the ASEAN-Korea Trade Facilitation Mission and the Initiatives to enhance ASEAN-Korea Culture and Tourism. Recognizing the inclusion of these programs, he expressed that Myanmar will provide assistance to ensure their successful implementation.
