Myanmar Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. U Myo Myint Maung attended the Opening Ceremony of the Sagarmatha Sambaad (Mt. Everest Summit) on the morning of May 16 in Kathmandu. Rt. Honorable Mr. K.P. Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal, officially opened the inaugural ceremony and also delivered the opening address. Over (350) attendees including the distinguished foreign high-level delegates; Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress of China; Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of India, as well as delegates from twelve countries, Cabinet members of Nepal, members of the diplomatic corps based in Nepal, and over (170) Nepali citizens participated in the event. Ambassador joined several parallel sessions on May 17.
The forum featured a total of 12 thematic discussion sessions during three-day period from May 16 to 18. As a result of these discussions, 25 key action points to be implemented was reached.
On the afternoon of May 18, the Ambassador attended the commemorative ceremony marking the establishment of the Ambassador’s Club- comprised of the diplomatic corps based in Nepal-and the launch of the International Relations and Global Diplomacy Dialogue (IRGDD).
The Ambassador’s Club and IRGDD are envisioned as platforms for Track II diplomacy, fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration among members of the diplomatic corps, senior officials from Nepal’s Foreign Ministry, representatives of the private sector, non-governmental organizations, and civil society stakeholders. These initiatives aim to facilitate mutual understanding and promote cooperative efforts on matters of shared interest.
The event also witnessed the official launch of the inaugural edition of The Diplomat Nepal magazine- the first publication dedicated to the diplomatic community in Nepal.
