The Ceremony to handover the Chairmanship of ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) from the current Chair of ACT, H.E. Mr. Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Malaysian Ambassador to Japan to H.E. U Soe Han, Myanmar Ambassador to Japan, followed by Luncheon, was held on 23 June 2025 at the Peninsula Hotel in Tokyo.
ASEAN Ambassadors and the Heads of Missions of ASEAN Embassies attended the Handover Ceremony and Luncheon. During the ceremony, Malaysian Ambassador H.E. Mr. Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany as the outgoing chair of ACT, and Myanmar Ambassador H.E. U Soe Han as the incoming chair of ACT delivered speeches respectively.
Afterwards, H.E. Mr. Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany handed over “the Gavel” which is the symbol of the Chairmanship of ASEAN Committee in Tokyo to H.E. U Soe Han. The Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Japan will serve as the Chair of ACT from July to December 2025.
