Ms. Khaing Su Linn, Consul-General of the Consulate-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Nanning attended opening ceremony of the 2nd Hunan(Huaihua) RCEP Economic and Trade Expo which was held at HuaihuaInternational Convention and Exhibition Center from 9-5-2025 to 11-5-2025 in Huaihua, Hunan Province on 9-5-2025. The expo was hosted by the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province and Huaihu Municipal People’s Government aiming to promotethe cooperation in economy, trade and investment and the cultural exchanges between Hunan Province and RCEP member countries. In total exhibition area is over20000 square meters, exhibitors from China and RCEP countries including Myanmarare participating in the expo. At the opening ceremony, Mr. Xu Zhongjian, Secretary of Party Committeeof Huaihua City, and Consul-General of Thailand in Kunming, representing the honorary country of this expo, Deputy Directors-General of the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce and Yunnan Provincial Department of Commercedelivered opening remarksrespectively. Afterward, the Consul-General of Cambodia in Chongqing, the Consul-General of Malaysia in Guangzhou, and the Consul-General of Myanmar in Nanning delivered the remarks regarding trade promotion of their respective countries. In opening remarks, Mr. Xu Zhongjian, Secretary of the Party Committee of Huaihua City, highlighted that in line with President Xi Jinping’s guidance, Huaihua City is prioritized to become the inland logistics hub of the International Land-Sea-Trade Corridor to achieve high-quality development. He also believed that mutually beneficial cooperation between Huaihua and RCEP countries can be promoted through this expo, and will promote economic cooperation with RCEP countries, especially in the cassava and potash fertilizer sectors.In addition, he expressed that people-to-people and cultural exchanges will be promoted by expanding the tourism sector between Huaihua and RCEP countries. In her speech, Consul-General of Myanmar briefed about the promulgation of laws, and policies to develop private sector, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), promote exports and trade for socio-economic development in Myanmar. She shared about the establishment of special economic zones and the incentives and preferential treatments that can be enjoyed by foreign investors. She also mentioned the sectors in which trade and investment can be improved between two countries, potentials for cooperation in trade and logistics between Myanmar and Hunan Province, as well as the mutual promotion of tourism between the two countries. A wide range of agricultural products such as rice, broken rice, pulses and beans, corn, sesame seeds, food products such as beer, coffee and tea leaf, amber, wooden handicrafts and tourism promotion pamphlets from Myanmar were showcased in the trade fair.
