In line with ongoing efforts to promote closer friendship and solidarity among ASEAN Member States based in New Delhi, the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in New Delhi, in its capacity as the rotating Chair of the ASEAN-New Delhi Committee (ANDC), organized the ASEAN Friendly Bowling Tournament on 23 February 2026 from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM at DLF The Camellias, Gurugram, Haryana.
The tournament brought together approximately 60 diplomats and their family members from the ASEAN community in New Delhi, fostering a spirit of unity, camaraderie and friendly competition. Distinguished participants included H.E. Mrs. Siti Arnyfariza Jaini, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam; H.E. Dato’ Muzafar Shah Mustafa, High Commissioner of Malaysia; H.E. Mr. Simon Wong, High Commissioner of Singapore; H.E. Mr. Karlito Nunes, Ambassador of Timor-Leste; and H.E. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Ambassador of Vietnam. Deputy Chiefs of Mission from Cambodia and Indonesia, as well as diplomats from Lao PDR, the Philippines and Thailand, also participated in the event.
The programme commenced with a welcome extended by the Ambassador of Myanmar to India, H.E. Mr. Zaw Oo, and his spouse, Mrs. Pwint Nwe Wai, to the ASEAN Heads of Mission and their spouses at The Camellias’ Sports Bar. The tournament was conducted in two sessions, with three teams competing in each session, creating a lively and friendly atmosphere, sportsmanship and solidarity among participants.
Upon the conclusion of the tournament, the Myanmar Embassy hosted a HiTea reception. The Ambassador of Myanmar subsequently delivered remarks at the Performance Hall, presented awards to the winners of each lane, and extended tokens of appreciation to the dignitaries of DLF The Camellias in recognition of their generous support and excellent arrangements for the event.
The event concluded with a group photograph featuring the Ambassador of Myanmar, his spouse, ASEAN diplomats and their family members, as well as officials from DLF The Camellias. The ASEAN Friendly Bowling Tournament was successfully held, further strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation within the ASEAN diplomatic community in New Delhi.
