Dr. Aung Zeya, Deputy-Minister of Science and Technology of Myanmar and Consul-General of Myanmar attended 2025 ASEAN-Oriented Standardization Cooperation Forum (27-8-2025)

Dr. Aung Zeya, Deputy-Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology of Myanmar and Daw Khaing Su Linn, Consul-General of the Consulate General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar attended 2025 ASEAN-Oriented Standardization Cooperation Forum in Liyuan Guest House in Nanning on 27-8-25. Mr. Wei Tao, Governor of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Mr. Bai Qingyang, Vice Minister of the State Administration for Market Regulation of China, Mr. Pehin Dato Rahmani Dato Basir, Brunei Ambassador to China, Mr. Keky, Secretary of State of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation of Cambodia, Mr. Sok Puthyvuthi, Secretary of State of Post and Telecommunication of Cambodia and representatives from international organizations such as Puthyvuthi၊ International Electro-technical Commission (IEC) Asia-Pacific Center, ASEAN Consultative Committee for Standardization and Quality (ACCSQ), ASEAN Secretariat and ASEAN-China Center, Consuls-General of Cambodia and Malaysia residing in Nanning, totaling (300) participants attended the forum. During the forum, in his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Dr. Aung Zeya highlighted that, as the Ministry of Science and Technology is the focal ministry for Myanmar’s National Quality Infrastructure, it is working to strengthen this framework. He noted that the Ministry, in collaboration with relevant ministries and organizations, has been formulating AI strategies and policies, and emphasized that China’s guidelines on AI governance can complement ASEAN’s dynamic digital economy. Dr. Aung Zeya further elaborated that initiatives such as the China–ASEAN Digital Economy Partnership and the ASEAN Smart Cities Network provide excellent platforms for China–ASEAN cooperation. He urged the creation of a strong foundation for sustainable growth, economic resilience, and technological progress across the region. Later, during the signing ceremony, an Agreement on Cooperation in AI-Powered Metrology was concluded between the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Institute of Metrology and Test and the National Institute of Metrology of Myanmar.
