The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held its Diplomatic Thingyan Festival on 14 April 2026, on the lawn of the Myanmar Institute for Strategic and International Studies (MISIS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Yangon, to welcome the Myanmar New Year 1388 ME.
H.E. U Ko Ko Kyaw, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, delivered a welcome remark. The festival was attended by the diplomatic corps in Yangon and their family members, representatives from the United Nations and its agencies, representatives from Honorary Consulates and their family members, Chairman and members of the Myanmar Institute for Strategic and International Studies (MISIS), Directors-General, officials and their family members from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event also welcomed retired officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, lecturers and the participants from the Myanmar Diplomatic Academy as well as the other invitees.
Diplomats and guests were served with traditional Myanmar delicacies, and staff from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs performed traditional Thingyan dances after which all participants joined together in the festive splashing of water.
