U Min Kyaw Lin, Consul-General of the Consulate-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Chiang Mai, attended the inauguration ceremony of Professor Dr. Pongrak Sribanditmongkol, M.D., who officially assumed office for his second term as the President of Chiang Mai University. The ceremony was held at the Sala Tham Hall on the Chiang Mai University campus on Friday, August 21, 2026.
The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai, Governors of Chiang Mai and Lampang Provinces, Consuls-General and Honorary Consuls from Chiang Mai-based consulates, senior government officials from various departments in Chiang Mai Province, as well as department heads and faculty members from Chiang Mai University.
His Majesty the King of Thailand graciously appointed Dr. Pongrak to this consecutive term following his successful leadership during his initial tenure. His second four-year term officially spans from July 25, 2026, to July 24, 2030
