Consul-General U Min Kyaw Linn of the Consulate-General of Myanmar in Chiang Mai attended the opening ceremony of the workshop held under the theme “Policy Dialogue on Thailand-Myanmar Cooperation for Cross-Border Measures under the Clear Sky Strategy Framework” on 19 May 2026 at the Amora Hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand and the Thailand Environment Institute.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Thai delegation led by Dr. Surin Worakijthamrong, Director-General of the Pollution Control Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and the Thailand Environment Institute. On the Myanmar side, Consul-General U Min Kyaw Linn attended together with the Myanmar delegation led by U San Oo, Director-General of the Environmental Conservation Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, which included representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, and the Ministry of Commerce. The workshop is being held from 19 to 22 May 2026.
The workshop aims to enhance cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand to strengthen national capacities toward achieving clean air, sustainable agriculture, and responsible agricultural trade. During the workshop, participants will discuss potential collaboration under the Joint Action Plan of the Clear Sky Strategy (2024–2030) to jointly respond to the annual transboundary haze crisis affecting the Mekong sub-region. This includes exploring potentials for cooperation in implementing crop traceability systems and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) such as zero-burning practices.
