Chargé d’Affaires a.i./Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Canada, Zaw Tun Oo, received H.E. Darm Boonthan, Ambassador-Designate of the Kingdom of Thailand to Canada, at the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Canada in Ottawa on 24 February 2026 at 10:30 hrs.
During the meeting, the two Ambassadors exchanged views on further strengthening the already existing friendly and good-neighbourly relations between Myanmar and Thailand, including issues related to Myanmar workers in Thailand, as well as enhancing people-to-people connectivity and exploring opportunities to expand cooperation with the host country, Canada.
Chargé d’Affaires a.i./Ambassador Zaw Tun Oo also briefed on the current developments in Myanmar, including the successful completion of the general election, which marked an important step toward establishing a free and fair multi-party democratic system as well as the ongoing preparations for convening a new parliament and forming a new democratic government.
