Chargé d’affaires a.i./Ambassador of the Embassy of Myanmar to Canada, H.E U Zaw Tun Oo, Pays Courtesy Call on the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Canada

Chargé d’affaires a.i./Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Canada, H.E U Zaw Tun Oo, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Souriya OTMANI, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Canada and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Canada, at the Embassy of Morocco in Ottawa on Thursday, 27 November 2025 at 14:00 hrs.

During the meeting, the Ambassador of Morocco shared her experiences during her tenure as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and explained that she had engaged not only with members of the Federal Government but also with members of Provincial Governments to strengthen diplomatic relations with the host country, Canada, and to promote opportunities for bilateral cooperation, as well as to enhance people-to-people relations through cultural events.

The Ambassadors of the two countries exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations and people-to-people contacts between Myanmar and Morocco. Chargé d’affaires a.i./Ambassador H.E U Zaw Tun Oo also briefed the Ambassador of Morocco on the current developments in Myanmar and the preparations underway to hold a general election aimed at establishing a free, fair, multi-party democratic system. At the conclusion of the meeting, he presented a souvenir gift to the Ambassador of Morocco.

H.E. Mrs. Souriya OTMANI, Ambassador of Morocco, first arrived in Canada in April 2018, and she is currently serving as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps of the 133 foreign embassies based in Canada.
