U Myo Myint Maung, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. /Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Republic of Korea, accompanied by Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy, and Air) Brigadier General Wint Thu, conducted an official visit to the S.J. Bio Co., Ltd. manufacturing facility in Sejong City on the morning of July 14, 2026. The delegation engaged with over 50 Myanmar nationals employed at the factory and hosted a collaborative luncheon.
Mr. Shin Hang-cheol, CEO of S.J. Bio Co., Ltd., officially welcomed the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. / Ambassador and the delegation. The CEO provided a comprehensive briefing on company operations before leading a guided tour of the production facilities.
During the luncheon, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i./ Ambassador emphasized that the joint gathering between the Embassy, the Military Attaché’s office, and the workforce stands as a strong testament to national unity and solidarity. He reiterated the Embassy’s ongoing commitment to engaging with newly arrived Myanmar personnel in Korea and providing continuous administrative and personal support. Highlighting the positive workspace environment, the Ambassador noted that the workforce is highly valued, citing the CEO’s commendations regarding the diligence, strong learning aptitude, and discipline of the Myanmar staff. Due to this exemplary reputation, the company announced plans to recruit more Myanmar nationals to support its expanding operations. The Ambassador concluded by urging the workforce to prioritize occupational health and safety, adhere strictly to the laws of both nations, maintain close contact with their families back home, and view the Embassy as a reliable “second family” for any necessary assistance.
Following the discussion, the CEO presented recognition awards to three outstanding Myanmar employees. Concurrently, the Ambassador presented traditional Myanmar food to the workers, which was contributed by the families of the Myanmar Embassy and the Military Attaché’s office.
S.J. Bio Co., Ltd. has expanded its international footprint by exporting cosmetics to Japan and the United States since 2024, with its strongest market shares currently held in China and Japan. The company intends to establish Myanmar as a strategic regional hub for its expansion into the broader Asian market. As the second-largest manufacturer for Kolmar—Korea’s leading cosmetics manufacturer—and a producer of its own proprietary brands, S.J. Bio initially pivoted to face mask manufacturing in 2020, donating masks valued at approximately 100 million won to Myanmar during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Sejong facility currently employs more than 50 Myanmar workers and plans to scale up its workforce, with all employee benefits strictly managed in accordance with prevailing labor regulations.
