A Myanmar delegation led by Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. U Soe Ko Ko from the Myanmar Embassy in Manila attended the 29th Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers and related meetings—the 25th Meeting of ASEAN Plus Three (China, Japan and Korea) Tourism Ministers, the 13th Meeting of ASEAN-India Tourism Ministers, the 5th Meeting of ASEAN-Russia Tourism Ministers, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2026, and the Opening Ceremonies of the ASEAN Tourism Conference, held in Cebu, Philippines from 29 to 30 January 2026.
The meetings were hosted by the Philippines as ASEAN Chair 2026, under the theme of “Navigating Our Tourism Future, Together”. The meetings highlighted the importance of further promoting sustainable, inclusive and high-quality tourism in line with the ASEAN Leaders’ Declaration on Quality Tourism adopted in 2025. The meetings adopted the ASEAN Tourism Sectoral Plan 2026-2030, the ASEAN Tourism Marketing Strategy 2026-2030, the ASEAN Plus China, Japan and Korea Tourism Cooperation Action Plan 2026-2030, the ASEAN-Russian Federation and ASEAN-India Tourism Cooperation Action Plans 2026-2030.
In addition, the Chargé d’ Affaires also visited the ASEAN Travel Exchange (TRAVEX) exhibition held at the Mactan Expo Center in Cebu along with the ASEAN Tourism Ministers, where Myanmar’s pavilion was also displayed to promote Myanma tourism. He also attended the ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards ceremony, where 24 Myanmar hotels received awards in various categories.
