The Myanmar Embassy in Beijing and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) jointly hosted a grand Reception to mark the 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Myanmar and China. The event was held on 18 June 2025 from 1600 hr to 2020 hr at the CPAFFC compound. H.E. Mr. Cai Dafeng, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. H.E. Ms. Hua Chunying, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of China, Maj. Gen. Zhang Baoqun, Deputy Director of the Office for International Military Cooperation of the Central Military Commission and Mr. Yuan Mindao, Vice President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) were chief guests from China side. Moreover, Myanmar delegation led by U Tin Oo, Chairman of the Myanmar-China Friendship Association, U Ai Tun, Chairman of Chinese Traders Association, U Mya Han, Vice Chairman of UMFCCI and other Myanmar dignitaries also attended the event. Around 230 guests including senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and other government ministries, representatives from Chinese state-owned companies, Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Deputy Chief of Missions and diplomats from various Embassies resided in Beijing, Linguang Temple (Buddha relic Sayardaw) Chinese Buddhist Association Vice Chairman Sayardaw Chen Zhen, Chinese Entrepreneurs and Businessmen, some Chinese institutions and organizations and other invited guests, around (230) people attended the reception. Prior commencing the ceremony, Myanmar Ambassador and Embassy staff, and military attache office staff together offered alms to the Linguang Temple (Buddha relic Sayardaw) Chinese Buddhist Association Vice Chairman Sayardaw Chen Zhen, in a gesture reflecting the deep cultural and spiritual ties between the two countries. Then, H.E. Mr. Cai Dafeng, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and H.E. U Tin Maung Swe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the People’s Republic of China delivered their speeches respectively. During the Myanmar Ambassador’s speech, he emphasized that Myanmar is the first country to recognize the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. He mentioned that on June 8, 1950, the two nations formally established bilateral diplomatic relations and now gather to commemorate the 75th Diamond Jubilee of the enduring partnership, based on the historic ties, both nations embraced the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence in 1954 which was a cornerstone for international diplomacy. He also highlighted that “Pauk-Phaw” friendship and people-to-people close bonds were nurtured by successive Governments which have grown from strength to strength and were elevated to the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in 2011. He also extended his gratitude to the Government and people of China for their timely and generous humanitarian assistance following the recent earthquake that struck Myanmar in March. Next, Ambassador concluded his speech by emphasizing to continue the two countries’ close cooperation, and foster a new chapter of partnership that will mutually benefit, ensure a stronger and more resilient, future for many decades to come. Then, Myanmar Ambassador and Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of Chian together expressed their wishes to enhance the bilateral cooperation. The event was then followed by traditional music and dance performances co-hosted by the Myanmar-China Friendship Association and students from Beijing Foreign Studies University. Later on, guests were served with a buffet of Myanmar traditional food and Chinese delicacies, symbolizing the cultural exchange between the two countries.
