The opening ceremony of the Seoul Friendship Festival, organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) of the Republic of Korea, was held on 24 May 2025 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. H.E. U Thant Sin, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar attended the ceremony together with the family members of Myanmar Embassy staff. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Oh Se-Hoon, Mayor of Seoul Metropolitan Government, as well as the Dean of the Diplomatic Crops in Seoul, who respectively delivered welcoming remarks, emphasizing the important of cultural exchange and international friendship.
The “Seoul Friendship Festival” is widely regarded as the largest multicultural event organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government since 1996. This year, approximately 50 embassies representing various regions around the world, including Europe, America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, notably the ASEAN member states participated the event. Foreign embassies showcased their traditional cultural products and cuisine across designated thematic areas by SMG such as the World Embassy Zone ၊ World Traditional Play Zone ၊ World Traditional Costume Zone ၊ World Food Zone and World Dessert Zone.
Together with ASEAN embassies, the Myanmar Embassy actively participated in the World Embassy Zone by showcasing a selection of traditional Myanmar cultural artifacts during the two days exhibition.
