On May 1, 2026, H.E. Mr. Zaw Oo, Myanmar Ambassador to the Republic of India, attended the Buddha Day Ceremony, organized by the Most Venerable Sayadaw Bhaddanta Nandaka, Mahāsaddharma Jotika Daza, President of the Myanmar Buddha Vihar in Kushinagar. Under the guidance of the Most Venerable Sayadaw, H.E. Mr. Zaw Oo, together with officials from Uttar Pradesh, participated in the ceremony at the Myanmar Buddha Vihar.
Prior to the ceremony, the Ambassador and officials observed the Nine Precepts administered by the Most Venerable Sayadaw, who then delivered a sermon, and offered flowers, water and oil lamps to the Buddha Image. Ambassador, the officials and members of religious association also sprayed scented water and poured water on the sacred Bodhi banyan tree. As the chief guest, the Myanmar Ambassador delivered a message of reverence in honour of Buddha Day Ceremony.
The event was attended by approximately 200 guests, including senior officials from the Department of Tourism and Culture of Uttar Pradesh, invited monks, members of religious associations and other distinguished guests.
